GE Healthcare: Bitfection

2014 Done while employed at Laboratory Group

Overview

GE Healthcare approached Laboratory Group with a recruitment campaign, to find 100 Java developers for their headquarters in Budapest.

We didn’t just wanted to attach recruits with a clever copy or a well-edited key visual. we wanted to give them a challenge to prove their skills as a first step filter for the job application process.

But how to do something like this, so the visitors aren’t scared away by even more work? We wrapped it up in an awesome game!

My tasks were coming up with the visuals for the landing page and working with the developers to ensure the best possible experience, along with the production of the marketing materials.

How did it work?

Our first step was to create a marketing campaign for users, featuring banners, billboards and ads in magazines. After arriving on the landing page, the coders were presented with a challenge: write and upload their own Java code and find all infected areas on a body scan image, by programming virtual bots.

After completing each challange, they could check their score on a leaderboard. And the best of the best were approached with the ultimate prize: a job offer from GE Healthcare.

CHALLENGERS WERE PRESENTED WITH 5 DIFFERENT CHALLANGES

USERS WERE ABLE TO UPLOAD THEIR JAVA CODE WHICH RAN IN A SIMULATED ENVIRONMENT

THE POINT WAS TO DETECT AND FIND ALL INFECTED AREAS ON A BODY SCAN IMAGE, USING THE CONTESTANTS OWN JAVA CODE

PLAYERS COULD SEE HOW THEY STACK UP AGAINST OTHER PLAYERS, FURTHER FUELING THE COMPETITION

Results

We were tasked to find 100 developers. After launch, we had over 14.000 visitors, 650+ players who completed the game and managed to get 140 recruits.

And to top it all off, we received a Gold award at Hipnózis 2015 in Website category. What a way to end this great story!
